What do Women, wives particularly, who have been married for years , Really Want as Gifts from their husbands.

I am 49 tomorrow only one year away from the big 50. been married to the same guy since I was 19, I don’t know about you but as I get older gifts matter very little and the thought behind the gift becomes increasingly more important. If my husband handed me a thousand dollars and said get yourself something nice for your birthday, I wouldn’t be all that impressed. If I wanted something badly enough there’s always a credit card. Its the thought and care and attention to detail behind the gift that matter most. Giving someone a wad of cash ,or a gift certificate, or a bunch of flowers ,hastily bought at the gas station on his way home ,just say your not worth any of my  time or effort and I don’t care for you all that much.Deep down I know that’s not the case ,but it sure feels that way most of the time.

While mooching around the net wondering what I might buy myself with this years birthday loot, I came across the perfect gift, called Pages from the Heart, but unfortunately to buy the gift for myself  would not only be pointless but sad, and rather pathetic if I did ,but even so I was very tempted.  “The  Ultimate Gift for Wife ” claims the site well it has my vote. These heartfelt gifts found their start ,their creator says, because, just like me, she felt her husbands gifts left a lot to be desired, so she decided to create the ultimate romantic sentimental gift for wives.
The one that I spotted was a design called all hearts (though there are lots more) pictured above with the words to a song by Billy Joel don’t go changing, I guess they “can” be created with “these song lyrics”, after all what wife would not turn cartwheels to hear her hubby say something so wonderful to her. And as a gift to be looked at ,day in and day out ,as a daily reminder that despite his grumps and seeming off handedness, he really does care after all ,a gift like  that would be priceless to most wives,a dream come true .
However the big thing about this particular gift is that it can be created with what ever is or was “your song” for me that song would have to be Saturday night at the movies , although I would definitely settle for Billy’s words if my husband was to forget what our song used to be (which he probably would)

Or possibly appreciation for the sentimental value of items and objects only comes with age,sentimental gifts do not seem to strike the same chord in the heart of a younger woman as they do in one that has seen her 40th year

The page I came across was specifically aimed at husbands who could actually be bothered to search a little for a gift for  wife (so unfortunately I can’t imagine her sales from that particular  page are very high I particularly liked and identified with “the I can hear you mumbling” bit) But fortunately she does sell the same type of ornamental book gift that  women can buy for themselves as room decor or for a friend or loved one. Barely over coming the strong temptation to have the all hearts design made up complete with dedication to me from my darling hubby and position it in pride of place on the shelf next to his chair right beside his head, as if to say “so there”. I eventually (as there are a lot of lovely designs Decided to purchase instead a keepsake gift called the iris garden as irises are one of my favorite flowers, I love the verse that accompanies the picture , it will be a joy to look at during the winter when I can’t go out into the yard to potter around .Requested that she’s heavy on the blue iris’s as they are my favorite and also blue goes with my room decor, what more could a woman ask for as a birthday gift to self .
